Exhibiting at a trade show is not for the faint hearted or budget challenged. The cost of a very basic 10′ x 10′ (3m x 3m) booth space with minimal ‘pipe and drape’ and a power outlet will set you back at least $10K – $12K, and that scales up fairly linearly as you look for larger space. This does not account for booth build, design and printing of graphics, rentals, advertising or Internet connectivity. The total cost starts mounting up and don’t forget staff travel, hotel and subsistence needs to be added on top.
The bottom line of this bottom line is that for most hi-tech companies the trade show budget is one of the larger marketing line items, and maximizing this investment takes effort, planning and training.
