GDC – The Number One Gaming Conference Expects Record Crowds in the Heart of San Francisco
The 2015 Game Developers Conference and Expo is going to be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco between March 2nd and 6th. The GDC is the gaming industry’s largest event and also its longest running one. More than 24,000 visitors are expected to attend the 2015 edition of the GDC.
In attendance will be top game designers, artists, producers, programmers, audio professionals and others who have a stake in interactive games. For gaming professionals, it is a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas, network and generally shape the industry’s future.
The organizers have put together more than 400 tutorials, lectures, panels, round table discussions and other educational material for the benefit of the attendees, to be delivered by industry experts. The 17 annual Independent Games Festival and the 15th Game Developers Choice Awards are also co-located with the event.
Tracks and summits at GDC 2015
GDC 2015 sessions are split into tracks (7) and summits (8). There will be tracks on Advocacy, Audio, Business/Marketing/Management, Design, Monetization, Production, Programming and Visual arts. There are a number of speakers under each track.
For example, the Advocacy track contains a lecture on black characters in games and the speakers are Derek Manns, game designer with Sungura Games and Dennis Mathews, CEO/programmer with Revelation Interactive. Likewise, the Design track contains a lecture on the bloodline system in Ancient Chalice (a game) and this session will be conducted by Brad Muir, Project Lead with Double Fine Productions.
The eight summits are on Artificial intelligence, Community management, eSports, Free to play, Game narrative, GDC education, Independent games and Smartphone & tablet games. There will also be a two day intensive workshop on Game Design starting 2nd March.

Fun events at GDC 2015
The conference is not the only interesting event at GDC. The organizers have also put together a number of fun events guaranteed to make your visit to GDC 2015 memorable. If you can find time off from the conference, visit the GDC store, the Indie Megabooth (a collection of the top independent game makers), the Intel Hangout Lounge, the video game history museum, the Xbox Lobby Bar and others. You can also unwind at the happy hour on the expo floor on March 5th between 5.00 pm and 6.00 pm.
