SEMICON Europa 2014 – Grenoble, France

SEMICON Europa 2014 – Get Ready for a Microelectronics Extravaganza

SEMICON is the premier exhibition for microelectronics in Europe. This year, the organizers have chosen to hold the event in Grenoble, France between October 6 and 9. It is the first time that the event will be held in France; Grenoble’s choice is a testimony to the fact that it is one of the biggest semiconductor manufacturing and R&D clusters in Europe.

SEMICON Europa 2014 is going to feature the latest semiconducting technologies, micro-electro-mechanical systems, packaging materials and electronic appliances. Companies and individuals working or associated with these sectors will benefit greatly and learn much about the latest in the industry by being a part of the SEMICON Europa.

SEMICON Europa has included a number of new programs this year such as an imaging conference, low power conference, power electronics conference, Innovation Village, European Electronics Conference and the SUSS technology forum.

400 companies, 70 conferences and 100 hours of presentations

Nearly 400 companies have confirmed their participation in SEMICON Europa 2014. The organizers have already made arrangements for more than 6000 people to attend the event. They have also invited 300 speakers from companies such as Analog Devices, Bosch, Nokia, Intel, IBM and more.

The event will kick off with the hugely popular Fab Managers Forum, where the keynote address will be delivered by the founder/CEO of Soitec, André-Jacques Auberton-Hervé. The company is the largest manufacturer of SOI wafers in the world. He will be speaking on agile manufacturing and its importance for companies that want to maintain their competitiveness and remain innovative in the European semiconductor industry.

COO at STMicroelectronics, Jean-Marc Chery will speak at the Low Power Conference on high energy efficiencies in nanotechnologies and their application. Manfred Horstmann, Director of Products and Integration at GlobalFoundries is will also express his views at the Low Power Conference.

The conferences (on advanced packaging, low power, imaging, power electronics and plastic electronics) will address critical issues/challenges in the microelectronics industry and provide information, guidance and education on how to move more products into existing and new markets.

Watch out for the startups at the Innovation Village

More than 30 promising startups like BlinkSight from France, Silicon Line from Germany and ActLight from Switzerland will be present at the Innovation Village. Visitors can interact with them at the Silicon Innovation Forum, where they discuss their ideas and strategies and ultimately pitch for funding.

The Innovation Village is also hosting an Innovation Conference on October 8 where speakers will reflect on how new technologies and innovations are effecting the microelectronics industry. The high profile speakers who have confirmed their participation in this event are the Vice President of Innovation at Schneider Electric, Nicolas Leterrier and Industry Relations at Silicon Catalyst, Mr. Dan Armbrust.

SEMICON Europa 2014’s event itinerary is packed with interesting conferences and exciting exhibitions, which will be graced by some of the best semiconductor companies in the world. Reserve your place and join Europe’s semiconductor industry in Grenoble this October.
