Hi-Tech Gadgets and Software Apps Meet Music and Film as Austin Hosts SXSW 2015

In March, creative professionals from all over the world will congregate in Austin to take part in the 29th edition of South By Southwest, one of the world’s best creative events. SXSW is an annual conference, film/music festival and trade show. There are three legacy components in SXSW- Interactive, Music and Film. In 2014, SXSW attracted 44500 registrants and this year’s event is expected to draw an equal number if not more.

More than 250 organizations are also exhibiting at this year’s event. The five day SXSW Interactive Festival is jam packed with exciting panels and presentations, networking events and special programs, so it is going to be very exciting.

Watch out for the five keynote speeches

Keynote speeches are scheduled on each day of the Interactive event. On March 13th, Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City will speak on the increasing influence of design in our daily lives. On March 14th, Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud, CEO of Alfa International will speak on how women have evolved personally and professionally in Saudi Arabia. On March 15th, Martine Rothblatt, CEO United Therapeutics will speak on AI, xenotransplantation, robotics, pharmaceutical development, life extension and more. On March 16th, Logan Green from Lyft will speak about his company- Lyft, an on-demand ride sharing platform. On March 17th, Astro Teller from Google X will recount stories from the Google X project.

Interactive sessions by other leading captains of industry

There are also interactive sessions by the founders of Yik Yak, Brooks Buffington and Tyler Droll (on the future of messaging apps), Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter and CEO/co-founder of Jelly Industries (who will speak about his new service, the Winklevoss Brothers (who will speak about Bitcoin), Juraj Vaculik, co-founder and CEO of AeroMobil, makers of the world’s first flying car, Charlene Li, from Altimeter Group (will speak on how leaders can use social and digital technologies to communicate with their employees) and many others.

Participants at SXSW 2015 can also look forward to other events such as the Gaming Expo, Workshops, Startup Village, film and music festival and much more. It is a good idea to plan your visit to SXSW 2015 beforehand, otherwise you might be overwhelmed by the sheer size of the event. SXSW is a wonderful opportunity to mix work with pleasure and network. It is a value for money event and should not be missed.
