CTIA Wireless 2012, with its theme of “All Things Mobile”, is being held May 8-10 in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. In addition to the keynote speeches by mobile industry CEOs, former U.S. President Bill Clinton will speaking at this year’s event – should be very interesting. Topics of interest include The Path to 4G and the Future of Tablets. I also expect the sessions on monetization, mobile payments and maximizing ROI to be crowded (just like last year).
Technically, 4G refers to an ITU-R requirements specification called IMT-Advanced (International Mobile Telecommunications Advanced). The document specifies the peak speed requirements for high mobility communications (such as from cars and trains) at 100Mbits/s and 1Gbits/s for low mobility communications.
